Meet the Designer

Hi, I’m Makayla Anderson, an interior designer with a passion for creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful. With over 5 years of experience, I specialize in residential interiors and graphic design.

I believe that every space tells a story, and my mission is to craft environments that resonate with the people who use them. From minimalist modern apartments to cozy, eclectic homes, I thrive on tailoring designs to reflect my clients’ unique personalities and lifestyles.

My journey in interior design has been shaped not only by my personal experience but also by my dedication to education. As a mother of three, I pursued my degree in interior design at MCC, where I maintained a 4.0 GPA and was honored to become a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

When I’m not designing, I enjoy immersing myself in the creative process—exploring material samples, curating mood boards, and finding inspiration in antique markets and the natural world. I’m always seeking fresh ideas to infuse into my designs.

A Journey in Design

Experience & Education

  • Acquired basic skills in using drafting equipment and interpreting symbols and terminology for illustrating interiors and furniture in plan, elevation, and 3-D manual drawings.

  • Studied and applied the principles and elements of design, materials and finishes, furnishings, building systems, lighting, sustainable design, and space planning.

  • Analyzed and enforced space planning, codes, lighting, electrical and mechanical systems, fixtures, ergonomics, materials and finishes, and basic construction techniques.

  • Researched and implemented planning guidelines, fixtures and appliances, plumbing, electrical and lighting basics, universal and ergonomic design, cabinetry, and materials and finishes appropriate for kitchen and bath design.

  • Examined the principles of color and application theories. Explored color relationships and their application in selected creative disciplines through class projects.

  • Acquired knowledge and understanding of fibers, yarns, fabric construction, finishes, color, and design techniques used in creating textile products

  • Developed hands-on skills in identifying, selecting, and specifying materials and finishes for both functional and aesthetic residential and commercial interiors.

  • Observed architecture, ornamentation, and interior styles from antiquity to modern times.

  • Delved styles from antiquity to modern times, becoming familiar with various historical movements and periods in furniture design and learning to recognize the characteristics of each style

  • Comprehended and practiced the basic principles of image capture, manipulation, and layout design

  • Studied and applied special needs and specifications for commercial interior design.

  • Learned the responsibilities and duties of professional interior designers in relation to the business aspects of the field, including procedures for establishing a business, legal responsibilities, ethics and conduct, marketing, trade sources, contracts, and the project management process.
